3 Effective Ways To Thrive In A Saturated Market
What brings about a saturated market?
Have you ever created a product or service, and gotten all excited about it and how well it will do, then after putting it out there, no tangible results came through?
If yes, then you know how discouraging such as experience can be … if no, then it’s best to avoid it as much as possible… read on!
One of the reasons businesses experience a lack of sales online is because of a saturated market (i.e. a lot of competitors selling the same thing – or similar – and going after the same prospects… most of them use very unethical marketing tactics).
The truth is, having competition in any industry is actually a good thing, because it keeps you on your toes, and there’s no room for being lazy or complacent when it comes to running your business (that’s looking on the ‘bright side’ when it comes to a saturated market).
So, let’s examine 3 effective ways you can scale over a saturated market online and still thrive within your niche:
#1. Review & Reset:
Change is something most of us are not fond of, but it’s something that will never go away. It will always occur! With that said, not all changes bring success, so one needs to know what he/she is doing.
When the competition within your industry rises, there’s no need to panic. Take a step back and assess the situation, in order to find out what’s missing (i.e. what’s needful, that others are not doing). Most of the time, competitors focus on price cuts and other gimmicks just to attract sales, and if you go down that route, you’re bound to get ‘categorised’ by prospects. This has the potential of minimising the value of what you do.
Your approach to marketing (online) in this case will have to change. Your content, across all boards, should be free of platitudes. When you say what everyone else is saying, it’ll be difficult to stand out.
The question is… what makes your business unique? Outline it and reset your strategy!
#2. Establish A Good Connection
One of the ways businesses get more sales coming in is through referrals. When your clients/customers love your business, they are going to tell others about it. People today are more inclined to listen to their friends/associates, as opposed to random commercials. This works well within social media channels (especially within Facebook groups, where members tag the right people to a post, when another member needs help in a specific area).
Apart from offering your core services and/or products, what else can you do for your clients/customers? The issue with most businesses today is that customer service has been bunged out the window, and while they are busy grappling with low sales, their competition is busy snatching their clients/customers away.
In the online world, we talk a lot about “how to get new leads”, but we forget that our existing leads are potential clients/customers, and they need attention. If all we do is accumulate leads, and then fail to cater to their needs, we’ve lost the plot.
The same goes for existing clients/customers. The fact that these individuals have bought from us, means it’ll be easier to sell again to them, as long as the products/services we offer is something they need.
So, do your best to stay connected with those you already have within your database (both leads and clients/customers).
#3. Stay On Track
It’s easy to lose sight of the goals we set, especially when there’s a “new trend” in town. I mentioned before that “change will always occur”, and went on to say that “not all changes bring success.” The reason I’m repeating that statement is purely to address this aspect… why you need to stay on track!
Most of the time, business owners are approached with a new thing, with promises of what this “new thing” will do for their business. There’s nothing wrong in trying out new things, but before you jump on board, be very certain that it’s not going to drag you away from your core business objectives. Distraction is surefire way to go off track, so do your best not to let it happen.
If you are looking to get some sales coming in online, and you do not have a system for that, then there’s a chance you’re indulging in trial and error processes. A well structured system eliminates the guesswork for you, and helps your potential clients/customers understand your business, because they are following a pattern you’ve created to engage them.
When you have something like this in place, it helps you stay on track (i.e. you’re more focused). Apart from staying on track, you’re also able to measure your results.
Conclusion
A saturated market is something that will not go away, but it can be tackled effectively, if one’s willing to put in the work to ensure he/she gets desired results.
