3 Strategic Ways To Get Clients Without Spending A Dime On Ads
You are on a tight budget… you know how important it is to advertise in today’s online business world, because it speeds things up, but that’s not happening for you. You’re stuck!
If that sounds like you, then this post might just be what you need to kick things off!
Read on…
One of the key problems business owners face is having a consistent flow of clients/customers.
This drought is caused by a lot of factors, but this post is not going to focus on why these problems persist.
My goal here is to share with you 3 strategic ways you can use to get clients or JV partners, without having to dip your hand in your wallet to pay for ads.
After testing these 3 ways, I can say that if applied properly, there’s the possibility of getting good results.
[Disclaimer] Results will of course vary, mainly because I don’t know how you run your business and how willing you are to put in the work.
So, let’s see what they are…
#1. Ask Relevant Questions
A good number of business owners belong to at least 2 groups/forums of interest.
Most entrepreneurs are more inclined to post links and content that only pertains to their business, regardless of the rules governing the groups/forums they belong to.
So, when you do the reverse and start creating engagement by asking relevant questions within the groups/forums you belong to, you are opening up a conversation, which will lead you to understand the core needs of people within your niche, based on their responses.
Now notice what I’m saying… the keyword here is “RELEVANT”. If it’s not relevant, no one will pay attention. Your question needs to touch a pain point.
It needs to trigger interest, and to achieve that, it has to be in line with the discussions on the group. All you need to do is spend a bit of time to study the conversations, and determine what your line of question(s) will be.
#2. Answer Pressing Questions
People are looking for answers everyday, and depending on your industry, you already have the ability to solve problems (unless you have doubts about those abilities, and lack confidence).
The issue here is that most people feel they are not capable of solving problems, and therefore they don’t make the attempt.
Bear in mind that your answers will be based on experience and opinion (i.e. suggestions), so go with that flow.
Just ensure your response is good enough to help the person who’s asking the question. Provide value packed responses at all times.
Lately I’ve been more frequent on platforms where a lot of questions are asked (mostly on Quora), and I do my best to answer the ones I have good knowledge of.
Don’t try to sound “intelligent”; just reach out and help someone in need. That should always be the primary focus.
You can get clients when you demonstrate that you can help them solve their problems.
#3. Share Quality & Engaging Content… For FREE!
Most people think that hoarding their “best” information is the best approach to winning in business, but the truth is, most successful entrepreneurs always give away their best advice for free.
These individuals carry an abundance mindset!
When they do that, they build authority and attract 1000s of new followers, and end up with a good number of clients, depending on their preference.
Information can easily be accessed today, and while you’re busy hoarding yours, someone out there is benefiting by sharing his/hers and attracting new fans that later become clients down the line.
Share what you know, what you believe in, and ultimately, what works! Remember, it’s not always for everyone, so don’t fret if some people say they disagree. It’s all a matter of opinion at the end of the day.
Use your blog and social media networks to achieve this, and always have a compelling call to action at the end.
When I write blogs, I don’t only post them on my website, and then share the link to social networks.
I post the exact same blog on Linkedin, Medium, and other content sharing platforms I have accounts on (I may make a few tweaks here and there, based on where I’m posting).
The idea is to make it “native” to these platforms. Based on that approach, one of my posts on a platform called Business[dot]com (formerly MosaicHub) which deals with Website Layout Strategy is bringing in new leads.
I’m using blogs as an example here, but it could be a video, a webinar, a podcast… whatever medium you are using, make your content value packed!
Conclusion…
Paid advertising is not completely ruled out here. When I need quick results, I prefer to pay for ads and target the right audience.
You just have to determine what your goals are and put your objectives in line with them in order to achieve desired results.
These 3 ways are not really new, but most people get it wrong, that’s why they don’t get clients consistently. Sometimes the people who do get it right, often lack a good follow up strategy.
Your follow up strategy basically focuses on what you are prepared to do when someone reaches out to seek for more help/advice from you based on your initial response to their question, or the question you asked or the content you shared.
Remember as well that this takes time and effort, so if you are the type that easily gives up or makes excuses, then this will NOT work for you.
You have to put in the work, and and ensure you position your business properly to attract the right prospects to you.
Always be prepared!
