Why Waiting For Inspiration Will Leave You Stuck!
If you’ve ever been in a situation where you know you need to do something, but you can’t seem to bring yourself to do it, then this post might just be what you need.
Here goes…
The primary reason we get stuck and don’t get up and do what we are meant to do is FEAR.
- Fear of rejection
- Fear of losing/failure
- Fear of looking or sounding daft
- Fear of success (yep, it does exist)
- Fear of finding out the truth
- Fear of disappointment… and the list goes on…
This may seem cliche, but hear me out before you “jump the gun”…
When fear creeps in, we drift into what I call “waiting-for-inspiration” mode (in other words… waiting for the “perfect time”)!
This mode is what keeps us stuck, and often times we lie to ourselves that we are doing just fine. But are we?
Here’s the kicker…
We prefer to wait for someone else to inspire us, and even when that happens, we hardly make the move to get things done. The more we wait, the more we lose.
All the years of listening to motivational talks, buying CDs, DVDs, etc, has not yielded results (no pun intended)… want to know why? Inspiration is one thing; getting things done is another (this is where people miss it).
Ever wonder why Nike’s slogan is – “Just Do It”?
We have great inventions and breakthroughs in technology today, not because the men and women who brought them to life waited for inspiration; but becausethey found a problem, and got to work to solve it.
They did everything in their power to bring things to fruition (Note: they had more failures than you could imagine).
People who attain success do not wait for inspiration; they get up and get things done. Period!
If you…
- Need more traffic and leads, then map out your marketing strategy and your targeting. Setup your landing pages and lead magnets, and get some campaigns running.
- Need high level clients, then create a process of attracting them to you (rather than chase after them), and ensure your services can deliver the results they desire and also boost your revenue down the line
- Need ideas on what to offer as a service, focus on finding out the problems people face within your niche. You can get information by asking questions (surveys). Gather as much data as possible, in order to know what to put together (a program designed based on what you think people need will fall flat on its “face”).
Whatever it is you want to achieve in your business, just go for it. Don’t wait for perfection… it won’t come! Give no room for excuses and complains!
Gold and Diamond are mined in the rough, and put through fire in order to refine them and bring out their beauty.
Get yourself in that “fire” (hey, not literally though… before you accuse me of misleading you, lol)!
Fear is not meant to cripple you, but to make you wake up, and give you that jump to go out and make things happen.
Make that mental switch, and start seeing it as a catalyst to success, than an agent of doom!
Now, here’s a reality check…
Success will not happen overnight (I know success may be a relative term, but whichever way you choose define it, you still need to put in effort to achieve desired results).
Sometimes success is projected as if it’s something you pick off the shelf of a supermarket. Bear in mind that it comes with a steep learning curve and it doesn’t play fair.
Check yourself… find your strengths and develop them… acknowledge your weaknesses and find help (a mentor or coach)… examine your motives and focus more on how you can help others, than what you can gain.
Inspiration is not a bad thing, but it won’t bring you results. You just have to get up and do what you need to do to succeed.
Fear will always linger, but when you learn to overcome it by taking action, you stand a better chance of succeeding than 95% people within your niche.
As we gear up for 2016, many are penning down their “new year’s resolutions”, which majority of them will fade off by the end of January. There’s absolutely nothing wrong in planning… but executing on the plan is the ultimate thing.
The realization of this was a “kick in the teeth” for me, and it has helped me step up in my business. I felt the need to share it because I believe it will also help someone out there.
It’s not necessarily designed to “inspire”, but to bring us back to reality.
If you are not positioning your business to attract your ideal clients, then no sales will come through and you know what that means for your bottom line!
